First Impressions
Ive suspended reading "The Engines of God" because I had this on order from the Library. Its a story involving "Sherlock Holmes" and his young wife(!).
So far good. Well written. Few niggling points in relation to the Holmes character but an otherwise engaging story.
Final Impressions
Ok great book, enjoyed it except for the whole Sherlock Holmes thing. I'm a big fan of Holmes and his world and much of what he does just doesnt fit the Holmes that I know. I found it annoying when I would read something Holmes did and be distracted from the story by knowing he would never behave/talk that way.
I had a hard time remembering that the story was taking place in 1915 because the language was quite modern compared to the Conan Doyle stories.
So all up a good read and story but would have been better without Holmes.
