Read this probably 30 years ago and it scared me silly. Was made into a movie with the title ZPG (Zero Poulation Growth). Its a story in the future when overpopulation is destroying the earth. The world council decrees that there are to be no babies born for the next 30 years. Anyone who procreates will be executed. This is the story of a couple who defy that decree.

Wow, horrid science fiction. Such a shock after reading Jack McDevitt. However I persisted because I wanted to remember the story. A far fetched story with doubtable science but I enjoyed the experience. Just read it for the "what would I do in this situation" moments.
