"The Blue Carbuncle"

From the Series: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, David Burke as Dr Watson (13 episodes)
First published in "The Strand Magazine" Jan 1892 (BLUE)

Synopsis:
The fabulous Blue Carbuncle is stolen. Although the police have a suspect in custody its Holmes who tracks it down with the help of a dead goose and a battered felt hat.

Review:
Holmes deduction at it best. His opening analysis of the owner of the felt hat is superb. Through clue after clue he solves the case although I was disappointed in his neglect of the falsely accused suspect until the very end.

A very seedy hard felt hat

The roughs had fled at the appearance of peterson

See what my wife found in its crop

He bowed solemnly to both of us

Just read it out to me

You are the very man

“Have mercy” he shrieked

He burst into convulsive sobbing
