"The Solitary Cyclist"

From the Series: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, David Burke as Dr Watson (13 episodes)
First published in "Collier's" Dec 1903 (SOLI)

Synopsis:
A woman is being stalked by a man on a bike, but only on one stretch of road.

Review:
An enjoyable episode tarnished by some ridiculous acting and by Holmes' treatment of Watson (which IS typical Holmes). The story is far fetched but enjoyable. The ending is its saving grace.

My friend took the Lady's ungloved hand and examined it

“I slowed down my machine”

A straight left against a slogging ruffian

“Too late, Watson; too late!” cried Holmes

As we approached, the lady staggered against the trunk of the tree

He spun round with a scream and fell upon his back

Holmes tossed the end of his cigarette into the grate
